The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) aims to reduce financial barriers to dental care for eligible Canadian residents. This progressive program will start with seniors, with gradual extension to other demographic groups.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the CDCP, residents must meet certain criteria, including family income and access to other forms of dental coverage.

Services covered by CDCP

CDCP will cover a variety of dental services, including but not limited to preventive, diagnostic, restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontic and oral surgery services. Exact coverage and availability of services may vary and will be evaluated on an ongoing basis.

Application process

Applications will be accepted in stages, starting with people aged 87 and over in December 2023. Online applications will be available from May 2024 for people aged 65 and over, as well as for certain other specific groups in June 2024. Other eligible Canadian residents will be able to apply online in 2025.
